Progressive States Network held a national conference call on Friday December 11th at 1pm EST with experts and legislative leaders to discuss Green Buildings and Green Jobs, one of the policies included in PSN's 2010 Shared Multi-State Agenda.
Lawmakers, advocates, and experts discussed how state and local governments can promote energy efficiency and good green jobs through retrofitting existing buildings and homes, and developing new buildings based on national standards. We heard about the experiences of passing similar legislation in other states and learned strategies for building alliances that influence decision makers. This was an opportunity to learn from colleagues and identify advocates around the country who can assist in a Green Buildings/Green Jobs campaign.
Speakers included:- Florida Rep. Mary Brandenburg
- North Carolina Rep. Pricey Harrison
- Indiana Rep. Matt Pierce
- Roger Limoges, State and Local Advocacy Manager at the US Green Building Council
- Emmaia Gelman, Policy Director, Center for Working Families
