Conference Call: Foreclosure and Anti-Predatory Lending Reforms
Progressive States Network hosted a national conference call with experts and legislative leaders on Tuesday December 15th at 3pm EST to discuss Foreclosure and Predatory Lending Reform, one of the policies included in PSN's 2010 Shared Multi-State Agenda.
Lawmakers, advocates, and experts discussed how state and local governments can promote tenant rights in foreclosure, maintenance of property and community, homeowner-bank mediation, and whistleblower protections for bank employees. We heard about the experiences of passing similar legislation in other states and learned strategies for building alliances that influence decision makers. This was an opportunity to learn from colleagues and identify advocates around the country who can assist in a Foreclosure and Predatory Lending campaigns.
Speakers included:
- Rep. Mike Foley of Ohio;
- Angela Canterbury, Director of Advocacy for Public Citizen’s Congress Watch of Public Citizen ;
- Dean Baker Co-Director of Center for Economic and Policy Research;
- Nathan Newman, Executive Director of Progressive States Network.
