TOWN HALL AT 7:00PM Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22nd, Two leaders from the Progressive States Network will join state and local leaders on’s “2006 Change Wal-Mart, Change America”? bus tour for two stops in Denver and Pueblo, as part of the tour’s one-day swing through Colorado. The tour is an exciting and unprecedented national bus tour going to 19 states and 35 cities in 35 days with 1 mission - to change Wal-Mart and change America for the better. In Denver, Tuesday, August 22, 11:00AM at the RTD Market Street Station, at the corner of 16th Street and Market Street, Senate Majority Leader Joan Fitz-Gerald, State Representative Judy Solano, Pat Waak, Democratic State Party Chair, and David Sirota, co-chair of the Progressive States Network and author of Hostile Takeover, will hold a rally/press conference to discuss why Wal-Mart must change into a responsible company that provides affordable health care, pays a good wage, and helps protect American jobs. At the event in Denver, speakers will discuss the role Wal-Mart plays in America’s health care crisis and will call on Wal-Mart to lessen the burden on taxpayers, both in Colorado and across the nation. According to independent reports, it costs taxpayers nearly 1.2 billion dollars to insure Wal-Mart workers who are forced onto public health care assistance because they do not receive insurance through the company. The second stop in Colorado, after Denver, will be in Pueblo. In Pueblo, Tuesday, August 22, at 7:00PM at Colorado State University, Occhiato University Center, Cottonwood Room, 2200 Bonforte Blvd, and the Progressive States Network will hold a special town hall meeting to discuss Wal-Mart's impact on America and why changing Wal-Mart will help change America for the better. At the Pueblo town hall, David Sirota and Progressive States Executive Director Joel Barkin will lead a discussion with an eye toward solutions that can be advanced at the state level to improve Wal-Mart’s business methods, with a long-term goal of improving the American economy. Paul Blank, former 2004 presidential campaign advisor to Howard Dean, and Chris Kofinis, former presidential campaign advisor to Wesley Clark, will present a PowerPoint presentation entitled “A Costly Truth.”? The presentation is modeled on Vice President Al Gore’s recent movie, “An Inconvenient Truth.”? As an added visual, at both the Denver and Pueblo events, the “2006 Change Wal-Mart, Change America”?
